negli Stati Uniti il Giorno del Ringraziamento è un momento per riunire la famiglia, condividere il pasto e ringraziare per i propri cari, gli amici e per tutti i doni della vita. Questa tradizione ha inizio nel 1621 quando i Padri Pellegrini organizzarono una festa con i Nativi Americani per ringraziarli di averli aiutati ad ambientarsi nel Nuovo Mondo. I Padri Pellegrini devono la loro sopravvivenza agli Indiani che insegnarono loro a coltivare e a mietere per nutrirsi durante i rigidi inverni del New England. Il Giorno del Ringraziamento venne proclamato festa nazionale nel 1863 da Abramo Lincoln ed è ancora oggi la festa più sentita negli Stati Uniti.

This tradition dates to 1621 when the Pilgrims organized a community feast with the Native Americans to thank them for their help in acclimating to the New World. The pilgrims owed their survival to the Native Americans who taught them how to grow local crops and to harvest foods that would keep them fed during the long and harsh New England winters. Thanksgiving was declared a national holiday back in 1863 by Abraham Lincoln and it’s still one of the most heartfelt holidays today in United States.
