Santa Barbara

Una delle mie gite preferite da Los Angeles è Santa Barbara. Si raggiunge prendendo la PCH, la 1, la famosa scenic drive, quella che arriva fino a San Francisco. In effetti questo è solo un piccolo tratto, ma sufficiente per godere delle meraviglie della costa, dell’oceano e del tramonto. Santa Barbara è una cittadina preppy, ben diversa da LA. La parte che preferisco è Montecito, quella in cui si trovano le case più spettacolari e il celebre San Ysidro Ranch, l’albergo dove Jackie e John F. Kennedy hanno trascorso la loro luna di miele e il piccolo villaggio dove è possibile fare shopping e pranzare prima di raggiungere la spiaggia. La mia favorita è quella del Biltmore Hotel, più riservata rispetto alle spiagge vicino al pontile. E una nuova zona, Funk Zone, più per la sera, con ristoranti e birrerie. E per chi ha più tempo un giro tra le cantine e i paesaggi della Santa Ynez Valley e Los Olivos, con grandi vini e ottimo cibo.

One of my favourite day trip is going to Santa Barbara. You take the PCH, the 1, the famous scenic drive, towards San Francisco. This is just a little stretch, but enough to see the beauty of the coast, the ocean and the sunset. Santa Barbara is preppy, far away from LA. My fav area is Montecito, location of the most amazing houses and the San Ysidro Ranch, where Jackie and John F. Kennedy went on their honeymoon, and the small village where you can shop, have lunch and then reach the beach. My fav beach is in front of the Biltmore Hotel, more romantic, compare to the ones close to the pier. And if you want to try something new in the night there’s the Funk Zone, where to dine and have a beer. And for those who have more time you have the vineyards and the landscape of the Santa Ynez Valley and Los Olivos where taste great wines and amazing food.
